Pro | Fits in hand
Quick shutter speeds
Flash-sync X1/250
Trustworthy
Ergonomics of basic functions |
Contra | Complex configuration of some functions
Needs quite much batteries, 10 rolls of film
Slow AF
Noisy |
Thoughts | My first reflex body, I bought it in summer 1988, as used, the first body got some problems with electronics, and I got a new one 1 year later.I took some 10-15 000 pictures with that body. It has amazing features, which should exist in every better than average camera today. Like x-sync 1/250, is found only in 1-series cameras, and 3-series bodies, even in 19 years later. I sold camera 1994, but for nostalgic reasons I bought similar body back. It's a good counterpart for 10D and 100.
The basic functions are located with very good ergonomics, but some of the seldom used functions are behind a door, and you have to use several buttons together to change some of the settings.
This camera gave the basics of taking photos, and glued my cameras to Canon's bodies, the others are EOS 100 and EOS 10D |

Pro | It has a feature not found on digital cameras, multiple exposures (ME). Set up a tripod, set the mode/number of shots, and click away. Each shot is a fraction of the total needed (ie 5 shots, each will be 1/5), so anything moving appears ghostly. |
Contra | Always wished it had a built in flash |
Thoughts | Bought this 15 years ago when my T70 was stolen and I had the chance to move up to auto focus. Its been my photographic companion until this year when I finally broke down and upgraded to digital (20D). Besides my lenses still working, I was amazed at how similar the two bodies look and feel. Some 20D reviewed site the action as noisy, but it feels right at home with the ca-chunk of the trusty 620. |

Pro | My first autofocus camera... and after so many years (and many more cameras) it is still working. This is a solid pro AF camera very outdated with todays standards but very reliable. Eventhough I hardly use it any more It is capable of producing great landscapes. The camera accepts all EOS lenses and extenders and it does work fine. |
Contra | This is the first generation EOS AF camera; simply there is no comparison with todays fully computerized AF systems. |
Thoughts | I am glad I own this camera. If i had to purchase this camera again today I would never do it simply because todays cameras are indeed yesterdays dreams.... |

Pro | I recently purchased an eos 620 after my eos 650 was stolen, which I use for a back up to the T 90.
The 620 is a great, solid and reliable camera. I was seriously considering purchasing an eos 30 but it felt too light. I was very lucky to find a model in absolut mint condition for a mere 200 Euroīs. If your looking for a quality camera then I can certainly recommend the 620. |
Contra | Canīt reall say I have any. ve read the autofocus can be slow but itīs fast enough for me. No Qualms really. |
Thoughts | Okay, itīs not an eos 1 But itīs amongst the best discontinued, robust camers you can find on the market today. |

Pro | I've used the camera since 1986 and had never major problems or failures. It's very sturdy and works even under humid climatic conditions. Battery consumption is very good, if the battery is removed between longer breaks. Features are still up to date. Handling is good, manual control (exposure, flash-control with 430EZ). Many helpful accessories are still available for reasonable price. |
Contra | AF-speed could be faster especially with non-canon lenses. |
Thoughts | Handling can be improved by the use of the extra-handle GR10. Technical back (additional control and connection to PC) is very rare and expensive if available on the second hand market. |

Pro | This is my third Canon and the best that I've ever used. I use it and my T70 for flash and available light situations for weddings and I have never had a bad picture with this unit. I bought it new in 1985 and thought too that it was expensive, but I've never needed or wanted another 35mm SLR. The 420EZ has worked like a champ with never a missed shot. |
Contra | Damp weather sometimes affects the electronics. |
Thoughts | Best Camera I've ever had. Great flash accessories and still current after more than 17 years. |

Pro | 1/250 X-sync, illuminated control panel
High reliability.
|
Contra | Slow AF by today's standard, esp w/ low light.
Does not allow me to take 37 frames with a 36-exp roll of film. |
Thoughts | Average 30 rolls per year for the past 14 years.
My all-purpose lense is the 28-105 f2.8 Tamron.
Waiting for the D60 to drop in price to $2500. |

Thoughts | I got my EOS 620 when my father died, as part of his estate. However, I couldn't find the flash. Can anyone tell me what kind of flash I need to buy for this camera? Thanks. |

Pro | What a machine. I just graduated from a fully manual Nikon 35mm to this whizzo machine that does everything bar scratch your balls and make coffee. I wish I had the owners manual. New canon lenses are cheap as hell, unlike nikkor lenses. I hope this isnt too reflective of manufacturing quality. |
Contra | I cant for the life of me work out how to turn off the auto metering bloody exposure and shutter speed; its irritating because it simply overrides my (nice) manual settings everytime. Computers detract from the joy at times. I love having a motor drive. |
Thoughts | I want it to stop telling me when and when not to take a photo. I make the decisions, not this little thing that cant even scratch its balls. |

Pro | Features and specifications are still on a par with today's best. Handling and ergonomics are natural and user-friendly. Can use all the latest EF lenses. Has proven reliable and trouble-free since I bought it. |
Contra | For the amateur, the lack of an occasional use built-in flash is a minor annoyance. No provision for an add-on motor drive: serious omission for the serious amatuer/pro it was designed for. |
Thoughts | When I bought this baby on its launch in the late 80s, I said to myself: "It may cost quite a bit, but at least 10-20 years down the road, it still won't be obsolete and will go on clicking." The EOS 620 has proven me absolutely right. Even today, short of splashing out on a top end 'pro' model, there are few other AF SLRs out there that has so many excellent, easy-to-use features. The camera still feels sturdy, rugged and great fun to use: not a day out-of-date. |

Thoughts | I have had my EOS 620 for 11 years now and it has not failed to deliver. While newer models may have better AF systems, the 1/250 x-sync is very rare in all but pro grade SLRs. Also, the 1/4000 shutter is nice to have for sporting events. |
