Special thanks to Knut Kampe for providing this lens!
Introduction
Now what odd thing is this you might ask ? Well, Knut smuggled it into his last
package (among the FA 35mm f/2 and 20mm f/2.8) so I obeyed to the inevitable
and gave it a quick look. The Tokina RMC 17mm f/3.5 is one of those lenses
from the stone-age era (~1980ish)- it doesn't feature AF nor it is possible to
use the K10D's metering system other than in the M-mode (manual).
Obviously it is a full format lens and when used on the K10D its field-of-view is
equivalent to about 26mm. The Tokina has (or had ?) also a current AF counterpart -
the AF 17mm f/3.5 AT-X Pro (reviewed within the Canon EOS scope).
Typical for most lenses of this era the build quality of the lens is exceptional
thanks on an all-metal body with very tight tolerances. The focus ring operates
smooth and very well damped. The length of the Tokina remains constant
regardless of the focus distance and the front element does not rotate.
