Verdict

It's difficult not to be excited about this lens. Sharpness is outstanding across the frame at any aperture setting (limited by diffraction at small apertures, of course). This extremely high resolution comes combined with a beautifully smooth and pleasant bokeh.

That combination alone would probably sell quite a few copies of the lens, regardless of its steep price. On top you get very high contrast, low CAs, moderate and acceptable distortion, but also (and unsurprisignly) quite some vignetting wide open. And unfortunately it's not an APO design, which means you'll have to deal with bokeh fringing at large apertures.

The build quality is outstanding, which of course can be expected at this price level.

In summary, the lens well deserves a 5-star rating. And it is, of course, 'Highly recommended'.
